Guangdong Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Laboratory (Guangzhou), as one of the 10 provincial laboratories established by Guangdong Government, also known as “Pazhou Lab, Guangzhou”, has been founded in April 2020 with the implementation of the national innovation-driven development strategies. The Lab is an independent legal entity located in Pazhou, which is the central area of Guangzhou’s AI and digital economy experimental zone.

The lab is committed to advancing the fundamental research in AI, encouraging technical originality, and further driving industrial development. We aim to establish and integrate a research system with One Research Platform, One Designated Project, One Industrial Fund, and One Scientific Zone, and focusing on Fundamental Theories and Core Algorithms of AI, AI Platforms and Computing Infrastructures, and AI Application in Digital Economies. Our lab is also designed to enhance the national ability in innovation and industrialization of AI technologies, and provide power and technical support for the national development of the digital economy, and in particular the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Initiated by the South China University of Technology, and partnering with a number of dominate research institutions and leading corporations, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Institute of Automation Chinese Academy of Sciences, our vision is to develop into an essential ingredient of the country’s innovation system, and serve as an internationally-influential R&D base for fundamental theories and core algorithms research, personnel training, and digital innovation.

Our research scientists are dedicating in diverse topics and interests, including Fundamental Theories and Core Algorithms, AI Platforms and computing infrastructures, and AI applications in digital economies.
