Supervised by the Guangdong Provincial Government, the Lab is an independent legal entity initiated by the South China University of Technology and coordinates with a number of government branches, enterprises, and scientific research institutes. The lab is also funded by the state and committed to adopting the appropriate operation mechanism in management, recruitment, budgeting, compensation and welfare, technology transfer.

In furtherance of coordination and collaboration between the divisions, our lab values open-minds and flexibility as it is managed independently by each faculty under the leadership of the lab council. The lab is governed by Prof. Zongben XU, (an academy member of the Chinese academy of sciences), and has established our research committee and technical committee, all run by members of the “Two Academies” (which is the collective name of Chinese academy of sciences and Chinese academy of engineering).
